Man who led authorities on wild chase from O.C. to L.A. County charged with 18 felonies
The man had a history of drug and auto theft charges from the Los Angeles and O.C. counties, L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy Bob Dunn said in a news release.

Orenthal James Johnson, 26, was found inside a stolen 2013 Ford Mustang that was allegedly going to a dealer at a business on the 300 block of North La Habra Boulevard just before 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Johnson was arrested on suspicion of four counts of auto theft with two counts of taking a vehicle, seven counts of taking a vehicle without consent, and one count of possession of methamphetamine, according to the release.
The Mustang was recovered from Johnson’s girlfriend, who was later arrested after she gave a statement about the stolen vehicle and its whereabouts, according to the release.
A man was taken into police custody after authorities said they found him in the trunk of a stolen red Ford Mustang at a business on the 300 block of North La Habra Boulevard about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped to check on a woman who was missing her cell phone. The deputy, who was off duty, was flagged down by a woman who said the man was in the trunk of the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Once inside the man’s car, deputies saw something in the trunk that looked like a drug deal in progress. They pulled the man from the vehicle, but he allegedly fought them off, according to the news release.
Authorities found multiple cell phones and meth in the backpack the man was carrying, but no one was injured as a result of the incident, according to the release. Authorities arrested the man on suspicion of drug and vehicle theft.
