The most successful comic book artist of all time has been working on a superhero script for a long time. The screenplay is close to finished and Tarantino has not talked publicly about the project since 2014, but the project has continued to garner significant film industry attention.
When asked about his possible involvement, Tarantino, 48, told USA Today that he wants to make “mature and meaningful” movies. “I can see a world where I make a Marvel movie and I’m a superhero,” he said. “It would be interesting. I would love to do it, and I can see it being awesome.”
Asked to elaborate on his interest in Marvel properties specifically, Tarantino said he didn’t want to be associated with other superhero films. “I don’t want to be the superhero of other people,” he said. “I would like to make movies, like all the best artists do, that are about people, and stories.”
Tarantino has an extensive filmography, and he has worked with plenty of big budget studio properties and indie movies. Despite having almost no films to his credit that have been released in the last five years, the director, whose career dates back at least to the late 1970s, is still working.
